96th Infantry Division Plaque
National Museum of the Pacific War & Admiral Nimitz Memorial
Fredricksburg, Texas - June 23, 2001

The 96th Infantry Division Memorial Plaque was dedicated at 11 AM on June 23, 2001 at a fine ceremony attended by over 125 Deadeyes and friends.  The Ceremonial Color Guard was furnished by the Army 3rd Signal Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.  The 96th Division Plaque was placed with the plaques of other units and ships that served under Admiral Nimitz in the War against Japan.

 

Admiral Nimitz Commanded the Pacific Ocean Area Forces that fought the Okinawa Battle.  In addition, while heading for the Yap Island Landing we were a part of the Pacific Ocean Areas Forces until loaned to the Southwest Pacific Command for the Leyte Campaign.
